CEQIP 2026: Quantum Information – Two Decades Before It Was Cool
The 21st edition of CEQIP – the Central European Quantum Information Processing workshop took place last week, from 14 to 17 September 2026 in Mikulov, Czech Republic, bringing together researchers working in quantum information and related fields.
CEQIP has been organised for 21 years by the Research Center for Quantum Information (RCQI) at the Institute of Physics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in collaboration with Czech colleagues from CyberSecurityHubCZ in Brno, and over more than two decades it has grown into a well-established meeting within the world-wide quantum information community.
The scientific programme featured a strong line-up of invited speakers, including Augustin Vanrietvelde, Vedran Dunjko, Teiko Heinosaari, Peter Staňo, and Francesco Cosco, covering a broad range of topics in quantum information and quantum computing. The programm also included two tutorials: Ivan Šupić contributed a tutorial on self-testing in quantum information theory and Karen Hovhannisyan on Quantum work and its measurement.
As always, CEQIP was about more than just talks. The programme also included the traditional poster session, giving participants an opportunity to present and discuss their latest work in a more informal setting. This year’s Best Poster Prize went to Leevi Leppäjärvi from the University of Jyväskylä for his work Adversarial Information Gain in Non-Ideal Quantum Measurements. As part of the CEQIP tradition, the winner will also have the opportunity to give a contributed talk at the next edition.
The scientific programme was complemented by the social side of CEQIP, including the traditional wine tasting, conference dinner, sightseeing around Mikulov and the ever-popular CEQIP Cipher Game. The combination of focused scientific exchange and a relaxed atmosphere is one of the things that has made CEQIP a recurring meeting point for the quantum information community.
A big thank you goes to all the organisers from RCQI at the Institute of Physics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and QUTE.sk – Radka Hovorková, Arash Ghoreishi, Mirka Šebestová, Mário Ziman – as well as to all invited and contributed speakers, participants and everyone who helped make the 21st edition possible.
With another great MikCOOLov edition behind us, we are already looking forward to where CEQIP will take us next.
