QUTE.sk is part of EQA – the European Quantum Academy

Slovak National Center for Quantum Technologies (QUTE.sk) has become a partner in one of Europe’s largest initiatives dedicated to quantum technology education and workforce development – the European Quantum Academy (EQA). Funded by the European Union, EQA brings together leading universities, research institutions, and industry partners to establish a comprehensive education and training ecosystem for quantum technologies across Europe.

What makes this achievement particularly significant is that we are the only organisation from Slovakia represented in this prestigious international consortium of more than 70 partners. Being selected as a consortium partner reflects both our expertise in quantum technologies and our long-term commitment to advancing quantum education and innovation in Slovakia.

Our participation in EQA builds on our long-term activities in quantum technologies and quantum education. Over the past years, education, knowledge transfer, and community building have become an integral part of our mission alongside research, innovation, and technology development. Joining the European Quantum Academy represents a natural continuation of these efforts and provides an opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of quantum education at the European level.

About the European Quantum Academy

The European Quantum Academy aims to address the growing demand for highly skilled quantum professionals by developing new educational pathways across the entire learning continuum – from public outreach and high-school engagement to bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral education, professional upskilling, and lifelong learning.

The initiative brings together more than 70 consortium partners, over 100 affiliated organisations, and six Regional Quantum Academies, creating an unprecedented collaborative network dedicated to developing quantum talent across Europe. It also builds upon the achievements of previous flagship European initiatives, including QTEdu, DigiQ, QTIndu, and QUCATS, consolidating their outcomes into a long-term European framework for quantum education.

The launch of the European Quantum Academy also directly supports the EU Quantum Europe Strategy, adopted in 2025, which identifies the creation of a European Quantum Academy as one of the Union’s strategic priorities for strengthening quantum capabilities. The initiative contributes to the Digital Decade ambition of positioning Europe at the forefront of quantum technologies by 2030.

Strengthening Slovakia’s Position in the European Quantum Ecosystem

Our participation in EQA represents an important milestone not only for our organisation but also for Slovakia’s growing presence in the European quantum landscape. As the country’s sole representative in the consortium, we will help ensure that Slovakia is actively involved in shaping the future of quantum education while creating new opportunities for students, educators, researchers, and industry partners.

Our activities and participation in EQA remain closely aligned with our strategic focus on developing educational programmes, engaging future quantum professionals, and supporting the growth of the quantum ecosystem in Slovakia and across Europe.

Looking Ahead

As quantum technologies continue to transition from research laboratories into industrial and societal applications, developing a highly skilled workforce has become a strategic priority for Europe. Through the European Quantum Academy, QUTE.sk will contribute to building a connected, inclusive, and internationally recognised quantum education ecosystem while strengthening Slovakia’s role in the European quantum community and helping prepare the next generation of quantum researchers, engineers, innovators, and technology professionals.
