Building Quantum Connections at QCI Connect 2025
From 16 to 17 September 2025, our team took part in QCI Connect 2025, held in Tallinn, Estonia — a two-day meeting bringing together representatives of national quantum communication initiatives across Europe. The event served as a dynamic forum for exchanging experiences, identifying common challenges, and fostering cooperation toward a unified European quantum communication infrastructure.

Discussions throughout the event highlighted the importance of collaboration between national QCI projects and the value of sharing insights from ongoing implementations. Participants from across Europe presented updates on their progress, lessons learned, and strategies to strengthen the resilience and interoperability of future quantum networks.

In this context, our colleague Pavol Surovec delivered a presentation on the skQCI project, sharing the main milestones of Slovakia’s development and focusing on the lessons learned during its early implementation. While his talk was not overly technical, it offered valuable reflections on the practical aspects of building a national quantum communication infrastructure and how the Slovak experience can contribute to the broader European effort.
Beyond the formal sessions, the event offered an excellent opportunity to connect with colleagues from neighbouring countries, reinforcing our shared goals and opening paths for future cross-border collaboration within the QCI community.
The meeting concluded with a memorable visit to the Arvo Pärt Centre, where participants had the chance to experience Estonia’s rich cultural heritage in a setting that beautifully blended nature, architecture, and music. We are grateful for the warm Estonian hospitality and the inspiring spirit of collaboration that marked the event — a true reflection of Europe’s growing quantum community.
