The Institute of Physics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences is pleased to host Dr. Branislav Jansík from IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center, Czech Republic. The talk is open to everyone – from experts to students eager to explore the expanding world of quantum computing and high-performance systems. This event offers a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insights into how quantum technologies are being integrated into Europe’s computational landscape and to engage in discussions about the future of hybrid quantum-classical computing.

The LUMI-Q VLQ: Integrating Quantum Computing into the European ecosystem

The talk will present the LUMI-Q consortium and the VLQ quantum computer in the broader European HPC ecosystem, outlining its composition, properties, and technical characteristics. We will highlight access routes available for Slovak users,  Special focus will be given to integration with Karolina and other EuroHPC supercomputers, enabling execution of hybrid quantum-classical workloads.

Branislav Jansík, PhD.

Branislav Jansík obtained his PhD in computational chemistry at KTH, Sweden in 2004. He took postdoctoral position at IPCF, Italy, focusing on high performance computational methods for molecular optical properties. Since 2006 he worked on highly parallel optimization methods in electronic structure theory at Aarhus University, Denmark. In 2012 he joined IT4Innovations Supercomputing Center as a head of services. In 2018 appointed as Member of the EuroHPC Infrastructure Advisory Group, re-appointed in 2022. Coordinator of the EuroHPC Karolina supercomputer hosting and LUMI-Q VLQ quantum computer deployment efforts. Has published over 50 papers, inspired the HyperQueue scheduler and co-authored the DALTON electronic structure theory code, Scopus registered h-index 27.
